Special Needs Child Safety Seats 

To request a child safety seat for a child with special needs, please begin by contacting your regional Project 8 Coordinator. The regional Project 8 Coordinator will schedule an appointment to meet with the child and family to determine what type of child safety seat provides the best fit for the child. When the seat is received, the regional Project 8 Coordinator will set up a second appointment with the family to instruct them on the proper installation of the new seat. 

If a special needs child safety seat is determined to be needed, the parent or guardian will need to submit the following forms of documentation:

• Prescription from a doctor or physical therapist.
• A letter from the child’s doctor or physical therapist documenting the child’s condition and any medical complications. Be sure to include the child’s age, height, weight, parent’s name, address and work/home phone number.

The following special needs child safety seats are available for short-term loan use: 

• Angel Ride car bed
• Britax Hippo seats
• EZ-On vests
